OSHEE: Power grid loses fall to 19.3% in Q1, 2024

TIRANA, May 9 /ATA/ – Albania’s power distribution operator OSHEE continued to improve its collection rates and reduce the power grid loses in 2024, allowing the state-run power utility to deliver on more investment projects.

Data from the power distribution utility show that grid losses fell to 19.3 percent in the first quarter of 2024, significantly down from over 45% in 2013 and down from 22.1% during the same period of 2023.

According to the OSHEE, the cut in power grid loses comes not only as a result of investments in the country’s power grid and new technology, but also as a result of management and continued efforts to further formalize the energy sector.

According to power distributor operator, the power grid loses in the first three months of 2024 are estimated at 46 630 MWh less in the same period of the previous year.

The collection rates between January and March 2024 are estimated at 96%, up from 95.5% during the same period of 2023.
