TIRANA, May 5 /ATA/ The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, on Sunday served Easter lunch for people in need at the community center in Shkoza.
Veliaj said that today is a day when we should give more love, drawing a parallel with the sacrifices of the Martyrs who fell for the homeland. He said that today the utmost sacrifice is not needed, but it is enough not to delay Tirana’s progress, not to put a spoke in the wheel of every good work done in the city.
“Today is not only Easter, but also the Martyrs’ Day. They were the people who loved this country so much that they gave their lives, today we are not asked to make this sacrifice. Today we are only asked not to hold each other back, not to delay Tirana’s progress, not to put a spoke in the wheel of any good work,” said Veliaj.
The mayor added that it is very important to advance the projects for Tirana, pointing out that only by working we can get wonderful things done.
“Tirana today was teeming with tourists, young people, it was full of life. The city looks clean everywhere. It is very important for us to speak well of our home, to push our projects forward. Only by working can we do wonderful things. We must continue to be together, not only today, which is Easter, not only because it is May 5. What the Easter holiday teaches us, it doesn’t matter what religious background we come from, the divine principles are the same everywhere: Love makes the world go round,” he said.
Veliaj said that today the city has one million and one opportunities, and there is room for everyone. He also focused on the new reconstruction flats after the earthquake, stressing that after Vora, work has kicked off on the sites of 5 Maji and of the Kombinat area.
