TIRANA, May 4/ATA/ Shkodra Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage said that there has been an increase in the number of visitors to Rozafa Castle. Only during the month of April, more than 12 thousand people visited the castle. This happens to be 3668 more visitors than during April last year.
The Directorate invited the visitors to enjoy a weekend rich in history and an amazing journey full of unforgettable adventures in the castle bay.
In March of the current year, this castle had 7025 visitors.
Thanks to the investments made, the castle has turned into a tourist attraction that can be visited by local and foreign tourists. The visitors have also shown an interest in the museum, where there are exhibited objects dating back to Antiquity and the Middle Ages, as well as the Roman mosaic of the IV AD century discovered in the years 78-79 in the lower part of the city.
Rozafa Castle is a historical monument. In the surrounding walls of the castle, which extends over an area of about 9 hectares of land, there can be clearly distinguished constructions of four periods: the Balshais (14th century), the Venetian occupation (15th century), the Ottoman occupation (16th-17th centuries), and the Bushatllinj ( XVIII-XIX century). Built during the Illyrian kingdom, it is represented by a legend that shows the keeping of a promise, of the legendary faith./r.e/p.s./
