PM Rama: We will encourage investments that expand capacities for tourism

TIRANA, April 29 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama put emphasis on quality over quantity in tourism development, saying Albania should prioritize quality over mass tourism.

Addressing a conference on development of tourism industry, the government head pointed out the need for quality tourism offer to meet the growing number of foreign arrivals.

He underlined the importance of government-private sector cooperation to ensure that Albanian tourism remains competitive globally.

“We need to make sure not to let this tourist influx to a free fall. We don’t need mass tourism in Albania. We don’t merely need to increase the foreign visitor numbers, but instead we need a balanced approach for all the tourist categories so that we can formulate the tourism offer accordingly, with quality being given importance over quantity,” Rama said.

Rama stressed the importance of collaboration between government and private sectors to maintain Albania’s competitiveness globally. He noted the significant economic impact of tourism, with the country generating 4.2 billion euros in 2023, benefiting families and industry wages.
