TIRANA, April 22 /ATA/ Albania and the United Arab Emirates will establish a joint task force for the fight against organized crime.
Interior Minister Taulant Balla broke the news in a statement to the media from Abu Dhabi.
Balla met in Abu-Dhabi with his counterpart Said Bin Zayed, with whom he discussed matters of bilateral cooperation in the field of security, as well as promotion of cooperation to another level in terms of extraditions and civil emergencies.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Balla assessed that the relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are at their best level, thanks to a direct cooperation relationship between the president, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed and Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Balla also said that with Minister Said Bin Zayed they also discussed on getting EBA’s recent experience, in terms of technology, in traffic management as well as the identification of wanted persons.
“We asked for assistance from the government and the Civil Defense Agency in order to face some of the current challenges. We are going towards the summer season and I remembered here the fact that last year we had a significant number of fires, 834 fires, which are impossible to cope with only by all our teams and the infrastructure we have for fire protection”, he said.
Also, Balla said that another topic of the meeting were also issues related to the cooperation between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Abu-Dhabi, as well as the extradition to Albania of persons wanted by Albanian justice./m.m/r.e/p.s./
