TIRANA, April 12 /ATA/ French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday reiterated France’s commitment in favor of Albania’s European journey and, more broadly, of the movement for the Western Balkans.
In the joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama, who is on an official visit to France, Macron said that “we are here today because France loves you, you and your country. I very much wanted to welcome you in Paris after the reception you extended in my honor last October during the first visit of the President of the Republic of France to Albania since the independence of Albania in 1912. These two visits and the dialogue with each other testify to the extraordinary dynamics that we have between Albania and France.”
“You know you can trust my determination to ratchet them up even more.
As I put it 6 months ago in Tirana, this is only about uniting Europe to make it stronger, more sovereign in the context of Russian aggression against Ukraine, but also in the face of common threats and challenges. It is also a premise of peace for the entire region,” Macron underlined.
Macron stated that since the holding of the first intergovernmental conference between the EU and Albania in July 2022, Albania has continued its European path with determination. You can count on our support to accompany you on this path in order for the negotiations to proceed as quickly as possible and I can tell you that we are impressed by the reforms and the capacities to advance.”
