PRISTINA, April 4 /ATA/ – Kosovo’s first Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue, Besnik Bislimi, affirmed after a meeting of chief negotiators in Brussels on Thursday that Kosovo has agreed on a proposal forwarded by the European Union on the use of the Serbian dinar in the country, welcoming it as a constructive proposal.
Meanwhile – according to him – Serbia has asked for more time to consider the EU plan.
A press statement said that this was the third meeting at the chief negotiators level in a bid to find a solution regarding Serbia’s financial support for Kosovo’s Serbian community.
“Our solution proposals were based on the Central Bank regulation and the legislation of the Republic of Kosovo. The EU proposal is also seen as a constructive one. This time, too, the Serbian side refused to cooperate and set the citizens’ interest as a top priority, insisting on licensing an illegal entity ‘Postanska Banka’. After the EU proposal, the Serbian side was not ready to reflect on it and has asked for more time instead. The next round of meeting is set to take place in two weeks’ time,” the statement read.
