CEC, OSCE Presence organize workshop on voter education

TIRANA, April 3 /ATA/ – The Central Election Commission (CEC), in collaboration with the OSCE Presence in Albania, organized Wednesday a technical workshop on findings and recommendations regarding voter education in the local elections in 2023 and in view of the 2025 parliamentary elections in the country.

Addressing the event, the State Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi highlighted the need for efforts to ensure a higher voter turnout at all levels.

“Together with the civil society organizations, experts from ODIHR, the Commissioner against Discrimination, the international organizations and the representative of the diplomatic corps, we agreed on the need to improve campaign for voter education and involvement so that a higher turnout is ensured,” Celibashi said in his remarks.

According to him, this is crucial when it comes to underrepresented voter categories, including ethnic minorities, voters with disabilities, women and young people in the country’s remote rural areas.
