TIRANA, April 1/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama shared photos in the social media from the city of Fier, decorated this spring by the trees in blossom.
The red plum trees planted along the main street of the city have already added color and freshness to the city. The promenade by the Gjanica River in the city of Fier has already become a recreational area for the citizens.
The project for the rehabilitation of Gjanica aimed to improve the river banks through greenery. The project also included the adjustment of sewage and rainwater concerns in the area of the river bed, the environmental rehabilitation of the river and the creation of a recreational landscape for the river bed.
Also, there were provided well-connected pedestrian street networks, public spaces and an overall improved infrastructural landscape.
The Gjanica River, once a natural wonder, was for many years misused by businesses, which turned it into a garbage and hydrocarbon dump.
The Gjanica River, with a length of 42 km, originates from Mallakastra and crosses through the city of Fier. It is a tributary of Seman and originates from the southern part of Shpirag mountain, crosses the entire territory of Mallakastra, passes through the city of Fier and flows into Seman, near Mbrostar. /p.s./
