TIRANA, March 31 /ATA/ – A strike planned by Greece’s unionized customs officers across the country between 00:01 April 2-23:59 April 3 will affect operations at Albania’s border crossing points with the southern neighboring country.
State Police announced Sunday that the border crossing points in Kakavije, Tre Urat in Permet, Qafe Bote in Saranda, will be closed from 05:30 am, April 2 to 05:30 am, April 4 due to a planned strike by Greece’s customs.
According to the State Police, “only pedestrians will be allowed to cross the border, whereas it will be closed to cars, busses and trucks.”
The State Police advise travelers to avoid travelling to these border crossings and instead head to other crossing points on the border with neighboring Greece.
“The State Police will maintain continued communication with the Greek customs authorities and will notify travelers on any possible plan change, as well as if the border crossing point in Kapshtice will be closed to traffic too,” the press statement concluded.
