Skepticism in Prishtina on progress during Brussels Bislimi-Petkovic meeting

PRISHTINA, March 16/ATA/ Kosovo and Serbia chief negotiators are due to attend a meeting called by the European Union on March 19 in Brussels.

However, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and political analysts do not expect progress in the dialogue.

Ramush Hardinaj’s party representatives criticized Prime Minister Albin Kurti for the wrong approach to the dialogue, as well as accuse him of transferring internal issues, such as the Central Bank regulation to political issues in the dialogue.

MP Time Kadrijaj told KosovaPress that Kurti will delay the implementation of the Brussels and Ohrid agreement, because the elections are close and he is afraid that he will lose popular support.

On the other hand, political analyst Albinot Maloku said to KosovaPress that Lajcak will try to use all ways to push the parties to implement the Brussels and Ohrid agreement while at the end of his term. Although he is skeptical that there will be results, he criticized the Kosovar side for turning the prohibition on the use of the dinar in Kosovo a topic in the dialogue.

The spokesperson of the European Commission Peter Stano confirmed on Friday that the meeting of the chief negotiators of Kosovo and Belgrade will be held on March 19 in Brussels. He said in a press conference that the EU’s special emissary for dialogue Miroslav Lajcak has invited the chief negotiators of Kosovo and Serbia to Brussels to discuss the implementation of the Brussels and Ohrid agreement, as well as to continue discussions on the decision of Central Bank of Kosovo for banning the use of the dinar.

The government has confirmed participation in this meeting. Media adviser to Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi, Klisman Kadiu told KosovaPress that the focus of the discussion agenda will be implementation of the agreement on the road to normalization, as well as the implementing of the annex.

“Kosovo responds positively to the invitations aimed at focusing on the way forward and implementing the agreements within the process of the dialogue which should lead to the normalization of relations and finalization of the process. Our constructive approach should be recognized by constructiveness and cooperation from the other side as well”, he said.

During this week, the US emissary for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar was in Kosovo and asked the Kosovar side for flexibility in finding a solution for the dinar issue as well as for the implementation of the Brussels and Ohrid agreements. /KosovaPress/p.s./
