TIRANA, March 5 /ATA/ – The Minister of Interior Taulant Balla announced Tuesday that work is underway on an agreement with the United Arab Emirates on extradition of Albanian criminals who have sought refuge there.
Speaking to reporters following a conference, the Interior Minister said in a few weeks’ time he will travel to UAE, where concrete steps are expected to be made towards an extradition agreement between the two countries.
“We’re working with the UAE authorities so that we can have an agreement as soon as possible,” the Interior Minister said.
“It was just a few months ago when you didn’t believe that we could identify and apprehend individuals also in the countries with which no extradition agreements are in place,” Balla said.
Balla also announced that changes will be made to the law on State Police. According to him, through these changes, police will enjoy more credibility among the public.
