TIRANA, March 4 /ATA/ The Head of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Tirana, David Wisner, stated on Monday that the opening of the first air base in Kuçovo marks another milestone in Albania’s continued commitment to NATO principles.
At the opening ceremony of the NATO air base, in Kuçova, which will also serve to take the training of our aviators to a whole level, while giving our country a renewed geostrategic importance, Wisner congratulated Albania on the opening of the first NATO air base in the Western Balkans on the 15th anniversary of NATO membership.
“This is another milestone in Albania’s continued commitment to the principles of NATO, safeguarding of peace, freedom and democracy and countering threats through deterrence and defense,” he said.
Wisner stated that NATO is the most successful and stable Alliance in history.
“Today, despite the great challenges, NATO is stronger, bigger, better resourced and indeed since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, NATO has grown, as a symbol of all our commitment and especially as a symbol of Albania’s solidarity with NATO members”, added Wisner.
Wisner congratulated Albania for its desire to further expand cooperation with NATO, while also praising Albania’s commitment to the modernization of its army in order to fulfill NATO’s commitments.
