TIRANA, Feb 26 /ATA/ Minister of State for Youth and Children, Bora Muzhaqi, on the 1st anniversary of the launch of the National Youth Strategy 2022-2029, outlined the objectives achieved in the light of this strategy regarding the empowerment and participation of young people in society.
The minister emphasized that young people make up 22% of Albania’s population and remain the largest demographic group in the country and the key factor for the country’s development and progress in the upcoming decades.
“Can the government curb youth migration? Should the govt. stop such phenomenon? These are questions that come up in every conversation, and the answer is clearly, no. The government neither should nor can alone stop the migration of young people, but it should work quickly to create opportunities for young people to find themselves as active partners in the development of Albania and this is the vision of the Albanian government,” she said.
According to the minister, “Albania that young Albanians want to see is not built only by the government, the municipality, civil society, but everyone must join forces in this regard.”
Muzhaqi emphasized that the focus of the National Youth Strategy 2022-2029 is empowering young people, improving their skills and access to the labor market.
In this regard, she emphasized that the national internship program has been developed to open the doors of the administration to young people.
“We have established the agency of “startups” and funds have been made available to support young people. Initiatives have been taken for the internationalization of universities,” she emphasized.
Muzhaqi announced that 1,700 young graduates have benefited from the national internship program. The good news, according to the minister, is that the financial support component has been added for anyone starting an internship in state institutions.
Also, Muzhaqi emphasized that under the coding programs as many as 1285 young people were financed in the course of 1 year to participate in short-term courses. This program, according to her, provides the market with all the human capital.
“Most of the beneficiaries of this program work for foreign companies from Albania”, she added.
Muzhaqi also emphasized that youth innovation has been supported and encouraged through quality education in the ICT field, increasing opportunities to enter the labor market.
“10 thousand young people have engaged in the program of sports teams in schools, creating a model Albanian program for other countries, fully financed by the Albanian government, enabling children to access sports. Likewise, 10,000 young people are involved in arts and crafts courses, developing their talents, this is also a program fully supported by the Albanian government,” Muzhaqi added.
The minister also focused on other interventions that increase safety in school facilities, but also guarantee the health of students and young people.
