Foreign Minister calls for closer international cooperation to prevent and solve conflicts

TIRANA, Feb 23 /ATA/ – The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani attended the ninth edition of Raisina Dialogue, India’s multilateral flagship conference on geopolitics and geo-economics held annually in New Delhi.

Addressing the conference’s session on consequences of a divisive politics, Foreign Minister Hasani focused on the situation in the Western Balkans.

“What we witness again in the Western Balkans – a region that has produced, in one way or another, more world history than it can consume – is a trend and efforts to revise history by capitalizing on the examples of a bloody past in the 90s of the last century, causing more and more problems. That’s why we need more solid international institutions and we need understanding on issues we have agreed upon,” Foreign Minister said.

Albania’s diplomacy chief put emphasis on the need for commitment of all stakeholders to explore new and more effective ways to build a better world.

“Multilateralism is suffering and it has been actually suffering in the last two decades. This is because some countries around the world think differently and do not think that liberal and free-market and rule of law- based democracy is the right example to pursue. Only by cooperating and engaging in international organizations, in treaties, in protocols, in forums like this, can we make our lives better,” Hasani said in his remarks.
