Çuçi for ATA: SP withdraws amnesty law from vote

TIRANA, Feb 22 /ATA/ The Socialist Party has decided to withdraw the draft law on criminal amnesty, which was scheduled to be voted this Thursday in the Assembly.

The draft law in question requires 84 votes to be approved, but the Democratic Party has declared that it will not vote for it, so the majority will wait for another moment to pass it for vote.

The chairman of the SP parliamentary group, Bledi Çuçi, confirmed in an interview with the Albanian Telegraphic Agency the withdrawal of this draft law from today’s plenary session.

Although on Monday it seemed that the parties had come to agreement on the voting of this bill, an amendment tabled in the Law Committee has led to the opposition disagreeing on this draft law. 700 convicted persons and 2500 persons on probation are expected to benefit from the criminal amnesty.
