Rama: While we do our homework, EU should open all its doors to us

TIRANA, February 15/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama demanded today that other EU institutions such as the European Parliament and the European Commission follow the example of the European Economic and Social Committee for the New Growth Plan for the Western Balkans and invite the countries of the Western Balkans as non-voting members.

In his speech at the meeting of the European Economic and Social Committee on the New Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, Rama said that, “I believe that it is crystal clear and very simple how this approach can radically change the nature of our relationship with Europe and how such a change can practically pave the way, I don’t like the word enlargement, because it’s not about enlargement after all, it’s about union”.

“Thus, I believe that this is key to understand both sides; they must understand that on the one hand we should not rush, because it is not about finding a quick way. This is related to very difficult homework, but we have to do it. We have to do it not because we have to please Brussels, Berlin or Paris, but we have to do them because it is the only way to ensure that future generations have a state that is just like a member state in its own way of functioning. And while we do our homework, the EU should open all its doors to us,” Rama emphasized./p.s./
