TIRANA, Feb 7 /ATA/ – A recent cyberattack on the systems of Albania’s National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) did not affect the data on the most recent population and housing census, the INSTAT’s Director General Elsa Dhuli stated on Wednesday.
Reporting at the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Finance, Dhuli reiterated that the census data were not the target of this attack and they are saved in other dedicated safe systems.
“The census data are unaffected and no information has been hacked. The database has now become operational and available to the public,” she told lawmakers.
Dhuli explained that work is underway with the state authorities of AKCESK and AKSH to fully recover and make entire INSTAT’s infrastructure operational.
