TIRANA, Jan 31 /ATA/ The government has put up for public consultation the “National Agritourism Strategy”, a thorough plan that contains measures and activities for strengthening agritourism businesses, towards sustainable rural development.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj, called it good news for the agritourism sector.
“Through this strategy we move towards our objective of more than 1,000 agritourism units by 2030. We build an integrated approach of territorial cohesion through the development of production, quality employment of young people, short value chains and the strengthening of traditional products, as a value added to the authenticity of the rural areas,” said Denaj.
This strategy is a policy paper of the Albanian government that aims to define the national vision related to the agri-tourism sector, boost the development of agriculture from a multidimensional point of view and the valorization of local agricultural products. Consequently, this policy paper sets out the general and specific objectives, as well as the measures for their implementation, through an implementation and measurement system that will enable, over time, the verification of the achievement of the identified objectives.
The strategy has identified two strategic priorities together with the corresponding specific objectives: improving the offer of certified agritourism and preserving local and human capital through sustainable development.
Policy-making at the central and local govt. level has shown that agriculture and tourism are the priorities of sustainable and long-term socio-economic development of Albania.
