TIRANA, Jan 25 /ATA/ – Opposition MPs tried to disrupt the Parliament’s regular session again on Thursday in protest over investigative commissions and electoral reform in Albania.
Carrying signs with anti-government slogans, the opposition MPs refused to sit as part of their continued attempts to make normal proceedings impossible, vowing to do so until the opposition’s constitutional rights are respected, including the right to establish parliamentary investigative commissions.
TV news images show opposition lawmakers standing in front of the Parliament’s rostrum in a bid to prevent normal plenary session from happening.
Albania’s parliament started the new year in deadlock earlier this month with now familiar scenes of opposition MPs disrupting proceedings by carrying slogans, blowing whistles and engaging in debates with their Socialist majority colleagues.
Opposition MPs Flamur Noka and Gazment Bardhi have been excluded from today’s session due to their position towards Democratic Party lawmaker Flutura Açka.
