TIRANA, January 22 /ATA/ The Independent Qualification Commission dismissed today from office Durrës Prosecutor Ilir Hoxha.
The jury chaired by Roland Ilia, Suela Zhegu relator, Genta Tafa Bungo member extended their decision today. The decision taken unanimously will be notified to the re-evaluation subject, the Public Commissioner and the international observers within 30 days. This decision can be appealed to the Special Appellate College by the subject of re-evaluation and/or the Public Commissioner 15 days from the date of notification of the Commission’s decision. The appeal is filed with the Independent Qualification Commission.
During the hearing on January 18, former prosecutor Hoxha gave explanations before the Commission about the negative balances in the creation of some assets; the suspicions raised by the Classified Information Security Directorate for illegal actions in exercise of the duty, as well as for the findings of the professional criteria, contradicting them and claiming that he had proven that he met the criteria to be confirmed in office.
Ilir Hoxha started his career in the justice system in 1995 as an officer of the Judicial Police, which he practiced at the Prosecutor’s Office of Pogradec. In 2015, Hoxha was appointed prosecutor in the Prosecutor’s Office of Saranda, while in 2023 he was transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office of Durrës by decision of the High Council of Prosecutors./p.s./
