TIRANA, Jan 15 /ATA/ – The coastal village of Velipoja, home to Albania’s longest and widest sandy beach, turned into the meeting point for young people from Shkodra, who came together in a cleaning campaign along the coast.
Prime Minister Edi Rama took to the social media on Monday to share images of the ongoing cleaning action along Velipoja coast, saying “cleaning should take place in any seasons and every day.”
Cleaning of the territory is a top priority for Shkodra Municipality that has launched a series of projects to rehabilitate and clean urban and rural areas in the northwestern region.
Velipoja has the longest and widest sandy beach on the Adriatic.
The 14-km long beach in Velipoja, northwestern region of Shkoder, is one of the most preferred destinations for beach-goers for the healing properties of its sand.
Famous for its pristine curative sand, warm breeze and its singularly picturesque panorama that interweaves the sea, sand, river, cliffs, forest, lagoon and rolling hills, Velipoja Beach is a breath of fresh air and a sight for sore eyes.
What attracts people to this beach more and more is not only its spectacular emerald sea and the freshest air around, but its iodine-rich sand. Boasting several healing properties, the sand truly rivals the sea at offering an unparalleled immersion into health and vitality.
