PM Rama: EU accession, modernization, human capital enhancement, main guarantees for Albania’s irreversible progress

TIRANA, Dec 8 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama, also leader of the Socialist Party, warned Friday that Albania risks suffering a serious setback should the ruling Socialists fail to focus on “the country’s irreversible and relentless forward progress.”

In his closing speech at the SP Congress, PM Rama said that the country’s European Union accession, its modernization and boosting human capital are the three main guarantees for Albania’s irreversible and unstoppable progress.

“Albania is not immune to the risk of facing a serious setback if we, the Socialist Party, fail to focus on building the guarantees of the irreversible and relentless forward progress. Just imagine what would happen if we were not to be here and others would instead, imagine the speed with which such a progress would take place. To this end, three guarantees are a must: a country ready to join the European Union, a state with the spirit of modernization being injected to all veins of its body and a ruling power totally committed to the society’s human capital. We will build more infrastructures, we will certainly develop tourism, and we will work to make Albania a net energy exporter. However, all these won’t make Albania ready to join the European Union, if we won’t build a European justice and European good governance,” PM Rama stated.

“We wouldn’t make Albania a country where spirit of modernization is absorbed by any of its veins unless we dare enough to break the frame of the gradual progress through non-gradual innovation, not merely in technological aspect, but in the philosophy of the institutions’ approach to the idea of progress. If the Socialist Party fails to be pretentious enough and convince every official at any level that nobody else but the Socialist Party can make Albania ready to join the EU, inject the blood of modernization into every vein of our country’s organism and commit to the human capital,” PM Rama said.
