TIRANA, Nov 27 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, said on Monday at the activity “25 years of the Constitution” held on Monday in the plenary sessions hall of Parliament that “every time political parties have tried to find ‘ad hoc’ solutions bypassing constitutional solutions, every effort has met with failure.”
In attendance of the activity were also President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, Parliament Speaker, Lindita Nikolla, and state dignitaries from the country and friendly countries.
In his address delivered on the occasion, Minister Manja assessed that “over the years we have also known how to build political consensus in a bid to bring about necessary changes for the country.”
Meanwhile, according to him, “today the situation in the Assembly is similar to that of 1998, at the time of the constitutional debate when Sabri Godo called on the representatives of the opposition to join the discussions in the Assembly.”
“Today, the affairs of parliamentarianism and parliamentary debate as the only solution to political deadlocks are dictated by the Constitution itself, which has offered a solution to any opposition exigencies,” said Manja.
According to him, “the Constitution prescribes a solution for every situation guaranteeing the checks and balances system.”
In his remarks, Manja expressed his gratitude for the invaluable contribution over the years of the experts of the Venice Commission, who, according to him, have left their mark on the history of strengthening the rule of law in Albania.
“At this stage of maturity of the Constitution, all Albanian institutions are tasked with proving that the Constitutional motto lies at the core of their work. We need all the institutions to prove that they rise up to the constitutional mission,” he emphasized.
