TIRANA, Nov 10 /ATA/ The 30th Conference of Albanian Surgery (ACS 2023) and the 7th Albanian Congress of Trauma and Emergency Surgery (ACTES 2023) have transformed Tirana into the capital of world medicine.
The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu, participated in the opening ceremony of this important regional event for surgery, trauma and surgical emergency, which was attended by surgeons not only from Albania, but also from European countries.
In her remarks, Minister Koçiu pointed out the priorities of the 2024 budget, the largest budget allocation for healthcare to date which, according to the minister, will carry on with major transformations as well as investments in modern and state-of-the-art equipment.
Koçiu emphasized that the new Back-Up building of the National Medical Emergency Center will be built.
“The support for the National Emergency will enhance the efficiency and response in receiving paramedical treatment, improving the work at the Trauma Hospital,” the minister said.
In the framework of the strengthening and modernization of diagnostics in public hospitals, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection will continue investing in high-tech medical equipment.
“Another key item in the budget is the investment in modern media diagnostic equipment to better cater to the citizens. After the rehabilitation of 20 hospitals and 340 health centers, until the end of 2024, we will continue to reconstruct and add another 60 facilities to the Health Centers,” Minister Koçiu said.
The 2024 budget continues the support for white coats, for increasing wages, improving working conditions and increasing hospital autonomy.
Minister Koçiu said that with the new budget, the salary increase for about 22 thousand healthcare practitioners who serve in our health sector will continue.
During the next year, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection will reconstruct the Psychiatric Hospital of Elbasan, the central building of the Gjirokastër Regional Hospital and the Korça Regional Hospital.
