TIRANA, Nov 7 /ATA/ – More than 36,000 families have benefited the baby bonus for the newly born babies since January 1, 2023 under the baby bonus law adopted by the Albanian government in 2019 as part of its Social Protection Programme, encouraging Albanian parents to have more children through a sharp hike in baby bonuses, Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Tuesday.
PM Rama affirmed that his government will continue its social policy programme under the next year’s state budget.
The government head said that a fund of 2.2 billion lek has been earmarked to support the baby bonus policy under the 2024 state budget bill.
Under the baby bonus policy, parents receive 40,000 lek for the first child, double to 80,000 lek for the second child and treble to 120,000 lek for the third or more children.
The goal of the national baby bonus programme is to support families that work and contribute to the Republic of Albania by granting them a financial reward to cover the cost to give birth and raise children.
