TIRANA, Nov 1 /ATA/ – The Minister of Health and Social Protection Albana Koçiu said Wednesday that a total of 11.750 mammograms have been performed in Albania during the Pink October campaign to raise the population’s awareness of the need for breast exams.
Health Minister said in a post on the social media that in addition to the overall number of mammograms performed in October only, a total of 922 screenings have been performed by the mobile mammography units across the country.
Health Minister underlined that work and commitment of health structures to perform regular mammography screenings to ensure early detection of breast cancer will continue throughout the year.
“In the meantime, the campaign to raise awareness about the disease will continue,” Health Minister Koçiu said.
