TIRANA, Oct 23 /ATA/- Minister of State for Youth and Children, Bora Muzhaqi at the 30th International Conference: “Population and Development: Ensuring Rights and Elections” (ICPD 30), joined the first panel on demography and democracy where she presented Albania’s policy making for young people.
In her remarks, Minister Muzhaqi highlighted the progress that Albania has made towards the commitments of ICPD 25 for the engagement, participation and empowerment of young people, highlighting the adoption of the Law on Youth.
“As the Minister responsible for Youth in the Albanian Government, I am very happy to note that we have progressed a lot towards fulfilling the commitments of ICPD 25, for the engagement, participation and empowerment of young people for a strong and healthy generation. The Youth Law was approved in 2019 and the relevant legal framework was finalized in 2021.
The new legal framework has been instrumental in building and operationalizing a whole new system of support and organization in every part of the country, which has empowered our young girls and boys to engage and contribute effectively to life and development of their communities,” Muzhaqi said.
Minister Muzhaqi emphasized that the new legal framework provides new schemes for the financial support of youth infrastructure and youth organizations.
“The new legal framework has provided for new financial support schemes for the construction of youth infrastructure and the support of youth CSOs, which offers the means to increase their role and engagement in youth-related issues at the policy and community level. In this regard, I also want to emphasize that we are now in our third annual funding call and our partner institutions UNFPA, UNDP, UNICEF have joined our efforts, offering their support and funding to Albanian CSOs, within the framework of this process,” said Muzhaqi.
Muzhaqi made reference to youth policy-making, with particular emphasis on the National Youth Strategy, designed by youth for youth.
