Hasani: Accomplishment of Berlin Process objectives requires all-embracing commitment

TIRANA, October 13/ATA/ Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani stated today that, “The successful accomplishment of the objectives of the Berlin Process requires an all-embracing commitment of every segment of the state and society”.

During his speech held at the conference on the role of parliaments in the Berlin process, Hasani said that, “The Berlin process is an initiative that aims to promote reform and cooperation between the countries of the region, in order to bring it closer to the European Union”.

“It is therefore an initiative that aims to support and accelerate the integration process. As such, it naturally requires reform, it requires transformation not only in the diplomatic aspect, that is, in the relations with the neighbors”, he said.

According to the minister, “There must be created policies, strategies and legal framework to make these reforms possible”.

“Two years ago we created a free roaming zone between the countries of the region. And on October 1 of this year, we also had a significant reduction in roaming charges with the EU. We also have the green corridors, which were vital during the pandemic period to keep trade and logistics links with the European region alive. There are also the agreements on the mobility of regulated professions which enable people to travel more easily or take advantage of work opportunities within the Western Balkans”, said Hasani.

Meanwhile, speaking about the Berlin Process summit in Tirana, Hasani expressed hope that the Summit will come out with concrete results that will accelerate our country’s path towards the common European market and EU membership.

According to him, “For these very important processes to be crowned with success, and not remain mere expressions of political will on paper, they certainly need the involvement of the Parliament”.

The minister emphasized that there are all the possibilities, all the political will, for a greater involvement of the Parliament in the Berlin Process./m.m/p.s./
