TIRANA, September 17 /ATA/ Interior Minister Taulant Balla reacted to the last 2 cases of finding over 10,000 cultivated cannabis plants in Velipoja as well as the seizure of a load of hashish at the Border Crossing Point with Montenegro.
He demanded a thorough investigation and justice for everyone involved.
He emphasized that the important operations carried out by the Police in recent weeks should not be stopped for a single moment and apart from the suspension of the police officers, the investigations should continue.
“I have said since the first day in office that a cannabis plant has no chance to grow without a policeman who is paid not to see it or that a plot of cannabis has no chance of being harvested without a police chief who is paid by traffickers not to check at a border crossing point. The attack on another case of cultivation of narcotic plants in Velipoja, where more than 10,920 suspected narcotic cannabis sativa plants were destroyed, also highlighted the responsibility or turning a blind eye of the relevant structures of the local Police”, stressed Balla.
Minister Balla said that, “The immediate suspension of the Chief of the Velipoja State Police Station, together with three other police officers at this station, is only the first step against turning a blind eye or perhaps even being involved in the criminal gangs’ list who were waiting to harvest those 10 thousand narcotic plants”.
Therefore, said Balla, the self-cleansing of the State Police from anyone who betrays this war will continue every day, without turning back. /k.s/p.s./
