Tirana Mayor: Pyramid to officially open doors as largest digital technology hub next month

TIRANA, Sept 7 /ATA/ – Tirana’s iconic Pyramid building will open doors to all young boys and girls who wish to hone their skills and lead future careers in digital technology, Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj said in his remarks at Israel Economic Forum, adding that the Albanian capital will become one of the largest technology hubs not only in the region.

“The biggest technology centre will officially open next month and the centre is designed mainly for young people aged 12 to 18, who will build skills to lead future technology careers. It is Tirana’s iconic building, originally designed to serve as museum for the communist dictator and it is now set to become a youth and technology centre,” he said.

He said that leading Israeli companies are invited to invest in Tirana and the Technology and Economic Development Zone, TEDA, the first and the only licensed economic zone in Albania.

“We kicked off work on the Technology and Economic Development Zone today. Tirana is the first and only municipality to have been licensed by the Albanian government to operate a free economic zone and I am really proud that the first companies to apply and obtain the due permits to build their compounds are companies from Israel, mostly specializing in transferring Balkan servers and social networks to Tirana,” Mayor Veliaj said.
