TIRANA, Sept 6 /ATA/ Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, announced Tuesday evening that the officers of the 3rd Infantry Battalion of the Ground Force have joined the firefighting forces of Lushnja, Fier, Divjaka, Roskovec, Berat and the Albpetrol company in the operation to put out the massive fire in the hills of the village of Zhamë in Lushnja.
The flames charred areas covered with olive trees, vegetation and bushes, endangering the houses as well.
Dozens of fire brigades, Police and local govt. employees have been engaged for more than 4 hours to contain the fire. Currently, the flames do not endanger the surrounding residences.
The structures of the Lushnjë Police Station, immediately upon receiving the information about the wildfire in the village of Zhamë, identified and detained the suspected arsonist.
