TIRANA, August 29 /ATA/ Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi stated today in a public briefing on the situation of fires in the country that the national civil protection mechanism has worked this year better than any other time.
This, he emphasized, is the reason why so far we have been able to manage successfully 465 wildfires.
“When I say success, I mean that we have achieved the primary objective of saving people’s lives, so we don’t have a single life lost, not even endangered. On the other hand, we have also preserved the wealth of our citizens in the city or in the countryside. We have preserved and avoided the worst in many forest areas. In general, the areas burned by these fires were pastures. We have avoided fires in the orchards, so we have preserved the wealth of the citizens”, he said.
Peleshi added that during the last 24 hours, the fires continue and are active in the regions of Fier, Vlora and Dibra.
“There is currently an active fire in the forests of Lura, but it is being put under control”, Peleshi concluded. /p.s./
