TIRANA, Aug 29 /ATA/ Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, said on Tuesday that, “based on the information received from the experts of the Institute of Geosciences, starting from the early hours of Tuesday, our country will be swept by heavy rainfall in the regions of Shkodra, Lezha, Durres, Tirana, Fier and Vlora.”
He emphasized that, “the rainfall in most of other regions of the country will be accompanied by thunderstorms.”
Minister of Defense underlined that, “the aforementioned regions could be affected by abrupt flooding of small mountain rivers and landslides, adding that, in urban areas, localized flooding problems may occur in these counties, depending on the condition of the sewers.”
Peleshi emphasized that, “the Ministry of Defense and the Civil Defense Agency are fully prepared for any emergency, so we call on all municipalities to take the necessary measures as soon as possible to prevent floods or landslides.”
