TIRANA, August 22/ATA/ Following the reactions or dissatisfaction that various publishers have expressed from time to time about the process of selecting book titles for school libraries, this year for the first time the Ministry of Education and Sports has changed the procedure, including in this process many actors, as publishers, authors, experts, teachers, etc.
The Ministry has disclosed the preliminary list of titles so that to make this process as transparent as possible and to choose the best and quality books for the students.
Now, that the preliminary list is posted on the ministry’s website, there are expected suggestions until September 5, 2023 and every publisher is required to officially submit the copyright for the titles, and then, it will be passed to the approval stage.
In her reaction to this matter, Kushi appreciated that, “School libraries have an important role in the development of the learning process, but also in encouraging the desire to read in students”.
“For this reason, the Ministry of Education, in cooperation with the professional networks of teachers and the associations of publishers, has been working for several months to draw up a list of book titles that will be recommended to be included in the fund of school libraries”, the minister emphasized.
