TIRANA, Aug 6 /ATA/ – A food safety taskforce established during summer is conducting continued inspection actions, monitoring and instructing businesses throughout territory of Albania to ensure food safety for local consumers and foreign visitors at the peak of tourist season.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Frida Krifca drew attention to an inspection in the city of Berat, where food safety inspectors found around 3.5 metric tons of dough products failing to meet the required hygienic-sanitary conditions at a dough production and processing business.
“The inspecting team immediately suspended the private business and imposed administrative punitive measures. In full cooperation with the local authorities, the findings will be forwarded to the relevant bodies to conduct further investigation,” Krifca said.
Agriculture Minister called on food businesses to strictly adhere to food preservation and safety requirements, warning that the taskforce inspectors will continue checks in a bid to prevent problems, instruct businesses, punish and deter law violators.
