TIRANA, August 1/ATA/ Throwing refuse outside the designated spots or the waste bins constitutes an environmental crime.
Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro published a video in the social media today by means of which she denounced the case of two vehicles on the Vlora-Orikum road, the drivers of which throw refuse out of the waste bins in the evening.
“This is what happened on the Vlora-Orikum national road, where people in two private cars one after the other go at night like robbers and throw refuse out of the bins despite the fact that the waste bins are empty! Such cases are faced by the cleaning teams every day, from individuals and businesses, who see the public as a space without a master or someone to protect and throw the refuse freely, outside their doorstep”, wrote Kumbaro, announcing the commitment of the State Police to arrest the perpetrator. and the Municipal Police of Vlora, which imposed a fine on the citizen.
High tourist influx during the months of July and August have led to overcrowding in coastal municipalities, where six of them are working with double cleaning capacities thanks to the support of the National Coastal Agency.
Minister Kumbaro has continuously called for the awareness of citizens and businesses to respect the waste disposal schedules.
“Our teams of the National Coastal Agency and Municipalities are on the ground 24 hours a day collecting refuse, cleaning bins, disinfecting. But, believe me, we won’t succeed if we don’t pay attention to contribute a little bit to reduce the volume of refuse, to pack it well in sanitary bags, to throw it only in the designated bins, to respect the schedules when businesses have to take them out”, said Kumbaro earlier.
In the first six months of the year alone, Albania welcomed over 3.4 million foreign visitors, or 33% more than the same period in 2022. /m.m/p.s./
