Yield on 10-year T-notes falls to 6%

TIRANA, July 13 /ATA/ – Yield rates on the 10-year treasury notes fell to 6.6% in the latest auction of this week, down from 6.6% in the previous action of the Bank of Albania.

The Ministry of Finance and Economy bid an initial amount of 3 billion lek worth in 10-year treasury notes at an average yield of 6%, whereas the total demand was estimated at 5.26 billion lek at the latest auction of the government securities held by the Bank of Albania.

According to Central Bank, the fall in the yield rates on the government securities is mainly driven by the financial sector’s high liquidity, significantly fueling competition among investors for the government treasury bills and treasure notes. The annual increase in yield rates on securities is lower than the increase of the Central Bank’s key interest rate. The yield on the 12-month T-bills was close to the 3% rate of the Bank’s key repo rate.

According to the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the government plans to raise 83 billion lek through its financial instruments and securities.
