TIRANA, July 11 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama is in Lithuania today, where he will participate in the NATO Summit in Vilnius.
PM has arrived at LITEXPO – the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Center, accompanied by Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka.
NATO member countries will meet today and tomorrow in Vilnius, Lithuania, where they will discuss the situation in Ukraine and the request of this country to join the military alliance.
Earlier today Prime Minister Edi Rama has published on social media the video message of this year’s Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, writing in the caption below that “it finds NATO allies stronger and more determined to protect the freedom and security of our peoples.”
“For almost 75 years, this great alliance has shielded our nations and continues to do so today. But war has returned to Europe. NATO is being tested, all democracies are being tested. Vladimir Putin wanted to weaken NATO. Would we respond? Or would we look the other way? One year later, we know the answer. We did respond, we would be strong, we would be united, and the world would not look the other way. We deployed 40 000 troops under NATO command with a significant air and maritime presence. And we doubled the number of NATO battle groups from four to eight. We haven’t seen such a unity and solidarity in many years. The secret to happiness is freedom and the secret to freedom is courage. Estonia had the courage to fight for our freedom. Same advice to our Ukrainian friends. Their fight for freedom is a reminder that freedom is not a given and needs constant care. France, its allies as European partners are only on one side, that of peace. NATO is a community united by our values: freedom, democracy, rule of law. We stand together, we protect each other. All for one and one for all. For our freedom and yours,” the video message of the Alliance says.
