TIRANA, June 29 /ATA/-Elbasani police carried out a mega-operation during which there were hit four criminal gangs involved in the field of drugs trafficking. One of the criminal gangs was completely destroyed.
Director of Elbasan Local Police Directorate Ilir Proda and Regional Prosecutor Kreshnik Ajazi provided details during a press conference on the anti-drugs police mega-operation coded “The Network”, during which there were executed 52 arrest warrants from the prosecution, with 45 persons arrested and 7 others declared wanted.
The police said that it has carried out a 3-month investigative work with proactive methods.
During today’s mega-operation, which was extended to Elbasan, Cërrrik, Peqin, Belsh, Librazhd, Përrenjas and Pogradec, there were engaged 490 police officers and 5 drones and there were controlled 52 apartments and 18 premises.
Also, the Court of Elbasan, based on the prosecutor’s request, issued a decision to allow the inspection of the residential premises and various businesses of 28 subjects”, said Head of the Police Directorate of Elbasan Proda.
According to him, during the controls in these premises, the Police found and seized as material evidence: 1 kilogram and 311 grams of cocaine, 860 grams of heroin, 1 kilogram and 317 grams of cannabis, thousands of doses of cocaine, heroin, cannabis and methadone, cannabis seeds, a 56-model firearm, quantity of combat ammunition, parts of firearms, silencers, cold weapons, a large sum of money of 51 million lekë, 15 thousand Euros, as well as an amount of Swiss francs./p.s./
