PRISHTINA, June 11/ATA/ Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti called on the internationals to intensify the dialogue for implementation of the agreements with Serbia of February 27 in Brussels and March 18 in Ohrid.
During meeting of the General Council of his Self-Determination Movement, Kurti said that Kosovo stands by the policies and democratic values of the United States of America and the European Union. But, according to him, the road to de-escalation of the situation in the north of Kosovo should start with the removal of criminal gangs from there.
Kurti mentioned the withdrawal from the race for the local elections in the north of Alexander Jabllanović; he admitted that he never thought that Lulzim Hetemi could become the mayor of Leposaviq.
Speaking about the situation in the north, PM Kurti said that until early elections in the northern municipalities, the current mayors should exercise their duties from their offices.
The head of the executive also called on the Serbs to participate in the elections.
Kurti said that, “We are aware that the new mayors have received few votes, but the others have not received any votes at all”.
“On the other hand, I believe that the Serbian community clearly understands that they should participate in the elections, and not boycott. The elections must be free and democratic, with a fair and open campaign, without fear, without threats, without criminal gangs”, Kurti emphasized.
Among other things, he said that the municipal building should be for the mayors. He said that municipal facilities are buildings that belong to the Republic of Kosovo and do not belong to an ethnic group. /KosovaPress/p.s./
