TIRANA, June 8 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ The Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, voiced her support for the changes in the law “On national taxes.”
In her remarks during the discussion of this draft law, Tabaku said that she supports the legislative change to scrap the tax that has been unfairly imposed on milk whey. “I believe it corrects a mistake made by the government a few years ago, and I don’t believe that we need to thank the government for rectifying it, instead we should thank the process in the Economy Commission,” said Tabaku.
According to her, the deputies of the Economy Committee, especially those who have reached out to farmers, have taken it seriously. “They have listened to parties of interest, they have drafted the relevant changes and I believe that this does not happen often, it happens rarely,” she said.
Tabaku continued by stating that the parliament has often passed laws that have favored or penalized specific sectors.
“It is unfortunate that in the Parliament of Albania tax exemptions have been selectively made, penalizing a large number of businesses. This is a fact that does not honor this parliament. When we discuss state capture, it is about some laws going through parliament although they favor certain groups. This is our main concern,” she said.
According to Tabaku, “the fiscal architecture has serious flaws that must be solved with a fiscal code that establishes some universal principles.”
