Kurti: I will materialize vision for Association if there is agreement on its pillars

PRISTINA, June  8 /ATA/ The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said on Thursday that he will materialize his vision for the Association’s draft statute if there is agreement in principle on its pillars.

In today’s plenary session, Kurti stated that he cannot write the Association’s statute and then seek a compromise for it, unless there is agreement on its principles.

“I can deepen the vision for the Association’s statute, but deepening this implies agreement in principle. So when we agree in principle, including those pillars that you mentioned that I have said in principle, then we can freely deepen the text. But we cannot write alternative texts finding an arithmetic average unless it is  agreed upon in principle,”  Kurti said in reply to the questions of KDP MP, Ariana Musliu-Shoshi.

He reiterated his objection to the draft of the Association’s statute, drawn up by the former management team which he dismissed.

Kurti said that his vision is based on the Croatian model for national minorities.

“My government did not agree to the draft of the management team as it imitated in content and form the Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Consequently, I have put forward a draft vision to implement article seven of the fundamental agreement and in relation to article 10, for which I have not agreed to the approval of the other party first and then of official Brussels, which continues to see it as an outstanding issue. From now on we can discuss in the framework of the Brussels dialogue the implementation of article seven of the agreement according to my vision rolled out in Brussels, which embodies the letter and spirit of the Constitution of our Republic, the transatlantic consensus of democratic and liberal values,” he added.
