TIRANA, June 8 /ATA/- By Maela Marini/ The Deputy Prime Minister, also Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku assured on Thursday that the Civil Aviation Authority in Albania is committed to protect the rights of passengers, calling on companies to respect them regardless of the low cost service they offer.
During the inauguration of the low cost carrier “Ryanair” at the “Mother Teresa” International Airport, Balluku said that the Albanian Civil Authority is fully committed to achieving this and travelers are not alone when they have flight delays and cancellations.
She thanked the company “Ryanair” for taking this step, a consolidated company that will increase competition in the Albanian market.
“We didn’t even think, despite all the strategies, that we would get to this point for the service parameters at Rinas Airport. We were convinced that with the renegotiation of the contract and the entry of “Kastrati Group” into this market, the quality of service would completely change. This company has declared a 100 million euro investment from the moment it was awarded the contract, but I am very sure that this figure of 100 million has already been surpassed and you will invest more,” Balluku said.
The minister emphasized that only in Rinas airport 2022 saw 5.2 million passengers, while this year is forecast to see 6.5 million passengers.
“We are ready to welcome about 10 million passengers. Today we record the figures predicted for 2027, 4 years ahead. This requires the commitment not only of the concessionaire, but of the entire sector, starting from the Civil Aviation Authority, which today is on a par with the counterpart authorities in all EU countries”, she said.
