TIRANA, June 5 /ATA/ On World Environment Day, Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro, visited the city of Vlora, one of the municipalities that are part of the MoTE plan in conjunction with the National Coastal Agency for the cleanup of the coastline with additional forces, in order to guarantee a successful tourist season.
Minister Kumbaro said that in a season with increased flows of tourists, keeping the beaches clean is a challenge per se.
“Vlora joins the program of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment and the National Coastal Agency to launch beach cleanup operations throughout the season. As we did last year in Himara, Saranda, Durrës and Kavaja, Vlora also joins the entire lineup of beaches throughout the territory of the municipality where the number of forces will increase twofold through the operator of the National Coastal Agency cleaning in sync with the staff of the municipality,” Kumbaro emphasized.
Accompanied by the representatives of the local government in the city of Vlora, Minister Kumbaro joined forces with volunteers from the city schools and environmental clubs, stressing that the educational dimension is the most important message on the World Environment Day.
“Today you have joined forces to lead by example your peers in Albania, to help clean even a small part of the territory, but also to understand that the garbage we will pick up today do not come from the Moon or Mars, we are the ones who irresponsibly throw them away every day,” Minister Kumbaro said.
The local administration staff also engaged in the cleaning activities, as part of the National Cleanup Plan.
Kumbaro asked the involvement and awareness raising among businesses, citizens and tourists in the cleanup action.
