TIRANA, May 31/ATA/ Green waste composting centers have started operating in some cities of the country.
Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro shared today on social media a message of awareness on composting and processing of green waste.
“This kind of waste doesn’t have to end up in landfills, but they turn into humus, enriching the soil with nutrients,” said Kumbaro.
Minister Kumbaro said that, “Other composting centers will be established in the cities of the country, reducing the volume of waste and creating revenues for the municipalities”.
Now, the green waste no longer remains as dirt on the roads; it is being turned into organic fertilizer, increasing the quality of field products, reducing collection costs and the volume of waste deposited at the end point, as well as creating additional income for the municipality.
This year the government is launching a large circular economy program, where at the same time investments will be made for the entire integrated waste management system, but also the promotion of recycling and composting stations./k.s/p.s./
