TIRANA, May 31 /ATA/ Minister of Tourism and Environment, Mirela Kumbaro hosted Inger Andersen, executive director of UNEP – United Nations Environmental Program, in a meeting.
Kumbaro shared on social media highlights from the meeting with Andersen, while emphasizing that it is the first time in 51 years that the top executive of UNEP visits Albania.
“We have concrete projects, from the work on the creation of the cross-border park with Kosovo and North Macedonia, which includes Korab-Koritnik to the project for the biodiversity protection in the Alps of Albania, which will become a National Park encompassing a double surface,” said Kumbaro.
Kumbaro said that another project is the continuation of legal initiatives to ban single-use plastics that has the maximum support of UNEP and international partners, as well as the preparation of a joint presentation at COP28 – the world climate summit.
