TIRANA, May 19 /ATA/ Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, said that Shkodra has always been at the center of the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for development of cross-border regions as part of the joint projects.

In her speech during the gratitude tour started by Prime Minister Edi Rama in Shkodra, she said that, “Shkodra is very important for the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the same reason that have made Shkodra important over the centuries, because Shkodra is the gateway to Albania or better said it is a bridge that connects us with the world and as such Shkodra has always been at the center of the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the intensification of political dialogue, the increase of cooperation with neighboring countries, but also at the center of our efforts for the development of cross-border regions in the framework of joint projects.”

Xhaçka said that, “the decision that was passed by parliament for the construction of the bridge over the Buna will give a new boost to these projects and tourism, connecting Shkodra with the regional tourist market, and shortening the distances of Shkodra and Velipoja with the regional tourist market.”

Xhaçka said that, “I am now confident that all these initiatives will become a reality, will add value and in result we will succeed in taking Shkodra to the much-deserved place, not just as a beautiful city, but as a genuine regional tourist center.”
