IPARD III addresses financing for wine producers

TIRANA, May 18 /ATA/ The IPARD III program, with 9 accredited measures to support Albanian agriculture, with an increased budget of 146 million euros, addresses for the first time financing for wine producers in three support measures.

The news was shared by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, during a meeting with the producers of the Albanian wine industry, who were informed that as part of IPARD III they receive support from Measure 1, for planting vineyards, Measure 3 , for the construction of wineries and the LEADER approach measure, whereby enterprises will be supported for investments in modern technology and technical assistance.

“We started this new page enabling investments in fixed assets that have significantly increased the quality parameters and infrastructure of vineyards and wineries, followed by the dedication to craft effectively and in full cooperation with the wineries a new legal framework for wine that protects local producers, formalizes the sector and preserves the wealth of autochthonous varieties,” said the minister.

Krifca listed a series of concrete commitments in support of this sector, among which, as she said, “massive efforts to promote internationally and by any means our producers and labels, as an Albanian excellence, aiming to increase the consumption of Albanian labels in the country and wine exports”.

“Made in Albania wine production during 2022 reached about 30,000 hectoliters, or 15% more than last year. 67 wineries were certified and registered last year, of which 20 in Durrës, 13 in Tirana, 10 in Berat and 8 in Shkodër.

The export of grapes has increased by 22%, to the value of 48 million ALL during the year 2022, compared to the previous year, while the marketing of the Albanian product has increased”, said Krifca.
