TIRANA, May 3/ATA/ On World Press Freedom Day, the Authority for Information on Former State Security Documents reminded Fadil Kokomani and Vangjel Lezho, publishing the letter that these late journalists imprisoned in the notorious Spaçi prison sent on July 9, 1978, to the Central Committee of the Party of Labor of Albania against “the obscurantist and infamous, heartless and bloodthirsty regime”.
The letter is considered an extraordinary act of courage and bravery in that “abyss of amorality”, where the government had the absolute power to punish. Both these journalists were arrested and sentenced to death by firing squad “for creating and participating in a counter-revolutionary organization” and “for agitation and propaganda”.
On May 29, 1979, Fadil Kokomani, Vangjel Lesho and Xelal Koprencka were executed and today they are still missing without a grave.
“In a state where the general and individual life is subject to the thought and political course of an eternal suite, no doubt this state is invaded by an abyss of immorality. You created a new religion of the gods of Tirana, you created a new God in the person of Enver Hoxha, whom everyone fears and dreads, since he has become the God of the family, of separations and marriages, of shares and of exhausting choirs, of a morsel of bread and what is the most shocking, he is the capitalist and the primary and permanent employer of this Albanian land”, wrote Kokomani and Lesho, as a sign of rebellion against the dictatorial regime. /r.e/p.s./
